SHOHEI KISHISHITA
Based in Queensland Australia (Originally from Tokyo, Japan)
Shohei started his journey as a leather worker in 2018. It started as a personal hobby driven by a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, artistry of leather tooling, and the natural beauty of aging leather.
As his passion grew, he realised that to keep pursuing the craft, he would need to find a way to make it sustainable.
Shohei decided to share his creations with others, turning his love for leatherwork into a business in 2020.

Shohei saw the potential to create beautiful, durable leather products that reflect both his skill and the essence of his lifestyle. Drawing inspiration from his love for nature, Shohei believes that leatherwork is not just about making functional items, but about creating heirlooms that carry meaning, longevity, and a sense of adventure.
Outside of leathercraft, Shohei enjoys bush walking, photography, and living off grid—experiences that shape his philosophy of simplicity, sustainability, and freedom. These values are deeply embedded in The Sho Room, where every leather product is made to order, using full-grain vegetable-tanned leather that’s not only eco-conscious but also built to last for years. Each piece is hand-tooled with care, reflecting Shohei’s dedication to quality craftsmanship and a respect for nature.

His leather creations are made to grow with the owner, becoming a trusted companion pieces.
Shohei's goal is not only to create fine leather goods, but to share the beauty of his craftsmanship with like-minded people who appreciate the finer details of handmade, lasting products.
With a love for nature, off-grid living, and adventure, Shohei wanted to connect with those who resonate with a lifestyle rooted in authenticity and exploration.

A significant source of inspiration for Shohei comes from his love of nature, particularly forest walks. Immersing himself in the tranquility of the woods allows him to connect with the natural world, infusing his designs with organic shapes and earthy tones. The textures and patterns found in nature often influence his work, resulting in pieces that resonate with the beauty of the environment.
