• SHOHEI KISHISHITA

Based in Queensland Australia (Originally from Tokyo, Japan)

I started my journey as a leather worker in 2018.

It started as a hobby in my free time while working as a full time chef. I started making sheaths for knives, then wallets and steering wheel covers and other small items.

Working with leather was truly satisfying moments for someone like me -who enjoy working with hands in general.

I always had the idea to do what I truly love to do for work and gave me an idea of selling my work so I opened my online shop in 2019 as a part time business.

I also dreamed a life with sense of "freedom". So I built a leather work studio inside a caravan to live in and travel around while carrying my work studio and home.

In 2024 I decided to put my full time commitment to The Sho Room.

The journey of exploring my identity as a crafter has been a challenge but quite rewarding so far and excited to create more story.

  • Outside of leathercraft, I also enjoy bush walking, taking photos of nature, and off-grid living

.A significant source of inspiration for me comes from my love of nature, particularly forest walks.

The textures and patterns found in nature often influence my work, resulting in pieces that resonate with the beauty of the environment.
